2GETHER AS 1 In Solidarity

A film and photography showcase of 10 Asians who have made Singapore their home in the wake of COVID-19. Through SMU students’ lens, we learn how the concept of home, work, and the people we define as family have taken on new meanings in 2021. Curated by SMU alumna filmmaker, Jasmine Teh.

The tales of these 10 individuals are captured vividly by student artists in these photo-essays and short films. We hope their stories inspire you to live bravely, laugh wholeheartedly, and love unconditionally, in spite of the incessant pandemic.

There are 2 sections to this virtual exhibition, Characters and Chapters. In Characters, learn about each of our 10 subjects through key moments of their lives and aspirations captured on film stills. In Chapters, hear our 10 subjects voice their woes, wills, and wishes through 3 short films.

SMUSAIC

SMUSAIC

Founded in 2002, SMUSAIC is SMU’s very own community for aspiring photographers. The club is opened to any SMU student interested to learn and embark on a journey to explore the world of photography. SMUSAIC organises a variety of photography workshops, competitions, exhibitions and photo walks all year round.

PARTING WORDS

SMUSAIC’s journey with these brave individuals was brief, yet meaningful. Their stories will carry on beyond the confines of our exhibition, and we are certain that they will make it home in the near future, no matter where it is.

2GETHER AS 1 SUPPORTS
THE SMU RESILIENCE FUND

The programmes you have watched are a labour of love from over 300 youths over the last 8 months. They have come 2GETHER AS 1 to pursue their common passion in the arts, while juggling the commitments from other aspects of their lives. For some students, this includes shouldering financial difficulties during the pandemic. You can help ease their load by donating generously to SMU Resilience Fund, a university-wide effort established in 2020 to provide timely and much-needed relief for SMU students. We look forward to receiving your support during this festive season.
